King’s praise for Midnight Mass is particularly significant because the show seems to be heavily inspired by King’s own work, particularly his novel Salem’s Lot. Both stories are set in small towns that are plagued by mysterious and terrifying forces.
Mike Flanagan, the creator of Midnight Mass, has also adapted several other King stories for film and television, including Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game. Flanagan is also working on an adaptation of King’s The Dark Tower series for Amazon.
